When the raids happened, shelves holding liquor bottles collapsed, dumping their contents into a space below and snapping back into a place empty. The clubs basement had secret passages and fake walls that hid a large liquor vault that still exists. Did you know that no liquor was ever found at the infamous 21 Club!

Situated in the heart of paceville, Tokyo is a nightclub that represents the rush, fun & naughty side of Tokyo. By using different materials, wall finishes, lighting, artworks and moods, the idea was to create different zones in the night club that will blend into each other. Our idea was to create a similar experience that one might have when walking through the busy streets of Tokyo, doing this through the use of materials, lighting and artworks chosen. We decided to target 4 different vibes of Tokyo which we felt were quite similar to those found in paceville. Tokyo underground, playful Tokyo, downtown Tokyo, Tokyo culture. The main colours selected for the nightclub were specifically chosen to represent the nightlife in Tokyo. We focused on using red, blue and black. These colours can be seen in elements such as lighting, metal structures, artworks and bar units.
