Behind each bottle of wine there is a story. Onella opened its doors in August 2022, right in the heart of Naxxar’s main square — but it was born long before that. The idea started with a simple belief: that wine deserves more than a place on the table; it deserves a space where stories are shared, moments are savoured, and people feel at home. That’s how the concept of Onella — and our guiding philosophy, Wine Stories — came to life. The name itself comes from g?onnella, the traditional Maltese hooded cloak once worn by women across Malta and Gozo. For us, it reflects a sense of intimacy, elegance, and tradition — the same feeling we want our guests to experience the moment they walk through our door. We set out to create a true wine bar — warm, relaxed, and welcoming. A place where wine brings people together, whether it’s for a quick glass after work or a long evening with friends. At Onella, wine is at the heart of everything we do.
