This year, Esplora will be transforming into Santa’s STEAM Factory, where the magic of Christmas meets the creativity of STEAM: Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics! For this jolly season, Esplora’s elves are back. This time, they will be blending artistic flair with scientific curiosity to create an enchanting world of discovery and fun. From hands-on workshops to captivating Science shows and Planetarium films, Santa’s STEAM Factory turns creativity and curiosity into the true magic of Christmas. Designed to inspire visitors of all ages, this unique experience invites everyone to explore, create and celebrate the festive spirit of Christmas at our Interactive Science Centre through the magic of STEAM! Event Highlights: Festive Arti-Coding: Workshop (7+) Christmas presents can’t go under the Christmas tree without wrapping paper, right? Design your very own by coding the MatataBot to move and draw geometric shapes and patterns! Santa on Tour: Workshop (5+) Help Santa deliver presents across Malta & Gozo using Matata, our friendly, coding robot! Participants will use basic coding skills to navigate festive challenges and ensure that every gift arrives on time, combining problem-solving with holiday fun. A Minibeast’s Christmas: Workshop (3–6 years ) Meet some tiny festive friends as we explore the world of bugs in winter! Participants will decorate minibeast homes with a Christmas twist, while learning about habitats, teamwork and the role of insects in the environment. Play It Loud!: Science show (3–6 years) Bang, shake and jingle along in this joyful Christmas-themed Science show! With festive tunes, musical instruments and plenty of movement, little esplorers will discover how sound is made and heard while celebrating the sounds of the season. Santa’s Secrets Revealed: Science show (All Ages) In this Science show, join one curious elf on a merry quest to uncover the truth behind some of Santa’s most amazing mysteries, from dazzling bright experiments to mind-bending science tricks; proving that sometimes, the most magical things can be real… with a little help from Science! What Santa Sees: Planetarium Film (5+) NEW!!! On Christmas Eve, Santa and his reindeer soar across the globe beneath the starry sky. Blending storytelling and astronomy, this enchanting show invites families to experience the night sky through Santa’s eyes.
