About the Event
- Music From the Sea takes place at Teatru Manoel in Valletta on Thursday, September 3, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. • It is presented by the China Cultural Centre in Malta and Teatru Manoel for the 25th anniversary of the centre. The evening features a performance by the Shanghai Chinese Orchestra, who will be showcasing traditional Chinese music on the Main Stage at Teatru Manoel. • Founded in 1952, the Shanghai Chinese Orchestra is known for its expertise with instruments such as the erhu (a stringed instrument resembling the violin), bamboo flute, sheng (a wind instrument), ruan (a plucked string instrument) and zheng (a plucked zither). • The concert will feature a range of traditional Chinese musical instruments that together create a unique sound palette reflecting China's rich musical history. • Admission is for ages 6 and over.
