BIBI SR. TRIO | SAT 03.01 Joe Bibi Camilleri is a drummer, percussionist and educator with a career as diverse and colourful as his personality. In over half a century of making music, Bibi has fuelled countless jazz formations since the 1960s, held the chair of principal percussionist with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra and has shaped the talents of entire generations of Maltese drummers. His significance to the development and innovation of local music can hardly be overstated. This is why we think it is fitting to invite him and his formidable trio to open the new year at Offbeat, where we will listen to a couple of swinging sets of tunes from the standard jazz repertoire, played in the style Bibi helped pioneer.
